Germany's oldest major city Cologne (German: Köln) is famous for its innumerable cultural and historical highlights such as the cathedral (Kölner Dom), the famous museums or the modern aspects such as shopping on the "Hohe Strasse" or the film studios where one third of all German TV productions are produced.
Cologne is also well-known for its beer ("Koelsch") and the carnival. With more than a million inhabitants Cologne is a big city in Germany.
Nowadays Cologne has developed from a classical industrial city to a modern service economy and into a leading media metropolis.
